Brave Mom Who Declined Cancer Treatment to Try and Save Her Unborn Baby's Life Pens Powerful Message About God Just Days Before Her Death

"Woman of unwavering faith."

A brave mother who was diagnosed with aggressive melanoma while 26-weeks pregnant last August and subsequently refused treatment to protect the life of her unborn baby has died.

Kathy Taylor, a 34-year-old mother of six, passed away Wednesday at her home following a months-long battle with the disease, according to the Daily Mail.

Taylor's husband, Nathan Taylor, wrote a blog post Thursday sharing the tragic details of his wife's death.

"I was so sad it was already goodbye. I realized their was nothing I could do. I think we always keep hope alive," he wrote, concluding, "I love you Kathy. I hope you know that. Woman of unwavering faith."

Taylor was more than six months pregnant when she was diagnosed with cancer late last summer, with doctors telling her that the aggressive disease would leave her with only weeks or even days to live — but she reportedly held on and fought in an effort to save her baby's life.

Pushing off delivery as long as possible, she was soon forced to give birth to her sixth child, Luke, not long after her diagnosis, having him 14 weeks early on September 11 when he was just 1 pound 15 ounces. The baby died two weeks later from an infection, the Daily Mail reported.

Taylor's family prepared to say goodbye to her as well, but she defied the odds and began responding to the treatments she was given. Rather than passing away in a short period of time as doctors had predicted, she was soon able to go home and spend time with her husband and children.

After the cancer diagnosis and Luke's death, Taylor told Fox News in October that she had relied on her "faith in God and the love of [her] family," to make it through the ordeal.

"I’m most looking forward to spending each day with my family, just making each day a special day with them," she told the outlet. "I’m hoping for the best, but preparing to go as well."

Months after her diagnosis, Taylor, too, has passed away.

Nathan and Kathy Taylor documented their struggles over the past few months on a blog titled, "Kathy's Miracle," candidly sharing their journey with the public.

In a post published on Christmas Eve, the mother shared that her health problems were worsening, while once again sharing how her faith has sustained her:

I’m hoping Christ continues to sustain me and keep me from having fear and anxiety. So far he has done this and I am grateful, while I still sense the intense looming future ahead. I pray for my husband to be comforted. I know this is hard for him. I still trust that God is completely aware and that everything will happen as it should. I will be grateful to be out of pain and with Heavenly Father and Jesus and hope to be able to offer lots of comfort to my family from the other side. I am so grateful they have so many wonderful people to turn to. A merciful God they can always pray to. Sometimes we might not feel like we are in very merciful circumstances. But when I look around and see so many blessings I am assured he is holding my hand as I am being divinely tutored and then he buoys me up with all of the love and gifts, and care, from so many people.
