Man Accused of Fatally Shooting Two Neighbors Found Dead of Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Police Say

Suspect lived in a camper on the same property as the victims.

SHERMANS DALE, Pa. (TheBlaze/AP) — A man charged with criminal homicide for allegedly shooting two neighbors outside their central Pennsylvania home has been found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, state police said.

Troopers from the Newport barracks had charged 61-year-old Barry Lee Myers in the shootings of 43-year-old Lisa Sechrist and 38-year-old Philip Sechrist Saturday night. Now police say Myers has been found dead in Grantville, Dauphin County, about 30 miles east.

At the time of the shooting Myers lived in a camper on the same property as the Sechrists and allegedly shot Philip Sechrist outside his home in Carroll Township, Perry County about 9:30 p.m. When Lisa Sechrist tried to go outside when she heard the gunshots, police say Myers also shot her.

After Myers fled the scene, police searched for him Saturday night and into Sunday before he was found dead in Grantville, PennLive reported.

Neighbors reported hearing arguing that night but assumed it was over a football game until police and other emergency personnel rushed to the scene, PennLive added.

Police did not immediately say how or whether Myers knew the victims.
