After Fifth Loss, College Coach Made a Drastic Decision Regarding His 'Spoiled' Team

“There will be chains on the doors."

The last time the University of Nebraska's men's basketball team won a game was Feb. 3. For the Cornhuskers' coaching staff, Sunday's loss against the University of Iowa was the last straw.

The Huskers' 28-point deficit had head coach Tim Miles locking his team out of their own locker room and taking away other privileges.

“There will be chains on the doors locking it from the outside until further notice,” Miles told the Omaha World-Herald.

If you think being locked out of a locker room is no big deal, the World-Herald explained why the players might feel the sting:

The fancy locker room at Hendricks Training Complex — with its multiple big-screen TVs and pool table and smoothie bar and leather lounge chairs and heated towel racks and I-pod shower plug-ins — is closed.

The newspaper reported the coach said he believed his team "half-assed" the game that had a final score of 74-46. Miles also didn't allow his players to speak to the media due to their performance.

“You never want to throw your players under the bus,” Miles told the World-Herald. “But that was beyond disappointing."

Assistant coach Chris Harriman shared his thoughts on Twitter.

In his interview with the media, Miles said that his team was "spoiled" by such a good fan base that has stuck around despite the poor season.

Miles told the World-Herald the loss was the result of "a lack of leadership and a lack of willingness to listen to leadership."

Watch Miles deliver his harsh comments about his team's performance in this footage from KOLN-TV:

Though Sunday's loss was significant, there was a little bit less of a spread in the scores from the team's prior four losses. The Huskers now have a 13-14 record.
