Burglary Suspect Discovers How a Father Reacts When His Pregnant Wife and Baby Son Are Instantly Put in Danger

At around 1 a.m. on Monday, a father woke up to find a knife-wielding man inside his Barelas, New Mexico, home. Even worse, the man’s pregnant wife and their 1-year-old son were immediately put in harm’s way as they were also in the house at the time, according to neighbors.

The burglary suspect, identified as 43-year-old Willie Amador, was reportedly armed with a 6-inch knife when the homeowner confronted him. The man took action and detectives said it appears a fight broke out before the man shot the suspect in self-defense, killing him, KOB-TV reported.

By the time police arrived, Amador was dead. Next to his body was the knife, according to police. The woman who lives in the home then dialed 911.

Police say the suspect may have caused another disturbance earlier in the same neighborhood area. Police received a call from another house on the same street before the home invasion regarding a man causing disturbances.

Court records indicate Willie Amador, the man who broke into the home, is not a stranger to the criminal justice system. Amador is convicted of burglary, escaping jail, as well as battery against a household member in the past.

The man who shot the suspect is not expected to face any charges in the apparent self-defense shooting.
