University President Was Robbed and Carjacked — but Now He's the One in Trouble

"He knocks me to the ground and starts kicking me."

First, Keiser University's Daytona Beach campus president was carjacked and beaten. Then, he was suspended from the university.

Matthew McEnany, 60, told police he was robbed, carjacked and beaten after he stopped along a road in Daytona Beach to give two women a ride. According to the police report, McEnany only knew the two women as "Luscious" and "Brittany."

Daytona's police chief told WKMG-TV that he believes McEnany was picking up the two women for a "sexual rendezvous."

"I had two supposedly friends of mine who needed a ride and I pulled up here, and I get out of the car and some black guy jumps me," McEnany told 911 dispatchers in an audio recording obtained by WKMG.

According to the police report, McEnany said he got out of his truck to speak with the two women. He said he'd given the two women a ride before when their vehicle had broken down.

"He knocks me to the ground and starts kicking me and then the two girls and the guy get in my car and take off with my wallet, my ... everything," he said. "I had $100 in my pocket too to pay a bill. He took out of my pocket too."

Police found and returned McEnany's vehicle, but the case is still under investigation. McEnany has not been charged with a crime.

Keiser University announced McEnany's suspension in a statement.

"To ensure the ongoing support of students, faculty and staff, we will cooperate with the authorities, and the campus president has been suspended pending a thorough and comprehensive investigation," the statement read. "A senior executive has assumed the role and responsibility of campus president. As always our primary focus remains our students, faculty, and staff."
