'Women's Alternative Chorus' Sings Gospel Tune at Hillary Clinton Campaign Event — and Changes One Very Important Lyric
September 05, 2015
"Woke up this mornin' with my mind, stayin' on ..."
At a Hillary Clinton campaign event Saturday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a "woman's alternative chorus" from town known as Voices From the Heart got together and serenaded the Democratic presidential frontrunner.

The group's musical choice looks to have been a Mavis Staples' gospel number, "Woke Up This Morning (With My Mind on Jesus)."
But it seemed at least on this morning, their minds apparently weren't on Jesus — but on the former secretary of state:
Singers replace Jesus with HillaryWatch as a "women's alternative chorus" worships Mrs. Clinton by replacing the word "Jesus" with the word "Hillary.""Woke up this morning with my heart stayed on Hillary..."And for the record - the Voices of the Heart calls itself an "alternative chorus." Their language, not mine.

From the Voices From the Heart website: "Our powerful and eclectic songs range from African-American spirituals to Korean songs for unity, South African anti-apartheid songs to Macedonian love songs. The songs are powerful testaments to the triumph of the human spirit. Sung with the strength of 200 voices, the songs delight and inspire audiences."
