A Florida woman was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly whipping her boyfriend with a belt after he refused to get up out of bed to get ready for his day at work.
Officers from the Fellsmere Police Department arrived on the scene at approximately 7:45 a.m. after Yessenia Zamarippa's boyfriend called them to report that he had been beaten with a belt across his back because his girlfriend was displeased with his reluctance to get out of bed, according to KTRK-TV. When they arrived to investigate, police discovered a large welt on the man's back that corresponded with his account of a whipping.
Zamarippa subsequently was arrested and taken to Indian River County Jail without incident and is facing charges for battery and domestic violence, according to WCMH-TV. She is set to return to court March 1.
