Before Presenting Award, Actor Gary Sinise Puts Grammys on Hold to Deliver an Important Message

It was a night of glamour to honor the world's best musicians, but actor Gary Sinise had some other people in mind that he wanted to recognize at Sunday night's Grammy Awards — the U.S. military.

Sinise and country music singer Cam were to present the award for best country album — which went to Chris Stapleton — but first Sinise said he had to give a "special thank you."

"Good evening. I would just like to take one sec, one brief second, to send a special thank you and shoutout to the men and women serving our country around the world who are in harm's way," Sinise said. "Thank you very much."

Sinise's gratitude didn't go unnoticed. The U.S. Department of Defense tweeted out their own thanks to Sinise for his acknowledgement of those in uniform.

Sinise is known for many roles, including that of Lt. Dan Taylor in "Forrest Gump" and Detective Mac Taylor in "CSI: NY." He also won an Emmy for his role of George C. Wallace in the movie "George Wallace."
