Watch Bernie Sanders 'Release' Transcripts of His Paid Speeches to Wall Street
February 24, 2016
"Here it is, Chris."
During CNN's Tuesday night town hall event with 2016 Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, moderator Chris Cuomo addressed the controversy swirling around Clinton's speeches to big Wall Street banks such as Goldman Sachs. Clinton has said she would release the transcripts of her speeches, if everyone else does.
Cuomo challenged Sanders to call out Clinton by making his speeches public. "Why don't you go first? Say, 'Here are my transcripts,'" Cuomo said.
Sanders answered, declaring that turning over the transcripts of his speeches was "not a problem" and explained he has not given a paid speech in years, stressing that for sitting senators "it is against the law to give paid speeches."
After quoting Hillary Clinton's promise to release her speeches "as soon as everyone else does," Sanders told Cuomo, "I am very happy to release all of my paid speeches to Wall Street."
Sanders then gestured as if he were tossing papers in the direction of Cuomo, announcing, "There ain't none!"
