Charlie Sheen Reveals the Gift Trump Gave Him That Made Him Realize the Candidate Is a 'Charlatan

"I just thought, what does this really say about the man."

Actor Charlie Sheen, who is decidedly against Donald Trump, believes the presumptive Republican nominee is a "charlatan."

Sheen's disdain for Trump came when, during a dinner with his ex-wife, actor Brooke Mueller, about five years ago, the billionaire businessman supposedly gave the embattled actor a pair of platinum diamond Harry Winston cufflinks as an early wedding gift.

Sheen, sharing the story on "The Graham Norton Show" Thursday night, graciously accepting the gift, and said he told Trump at the time, "You really shouldn't do this." But Trump wouldn't take no for an answer.

However, according to Sheen, when he got them appraised about six months later, he discovered the cufflinks were really not that valuable.

"[The appraiser] said, ‘In their finest moment, this is cheap pewter and bad zirconias,’" Sheen recalled. "And they’re stamped TRUMP."

"I just thought, what does this really say about the man, you know, that he said, ‘Here’s like a great wedding gift,’ and it’s just a bag of dogsh*t," he added.

When the audience reacted to the story, Sheen asked if their laughs were a response to the "charlatan" currently running for president.

"Is that the laughter I can hear coming from across the pond at our country about this charlatan?" he asked.

In the end, though, the actor said he has faith that "good and decent people will make the right choice."
