Megyn Kelly Slams DOJ For Attempting to Remove Mentions of Islamic State in Orlando 911 Transcript

"Whose call was it? Was it a political call made from the White House?"

Fox News host Megyn Kelly tore into the Justice Department and Attorney General Loretta Lynch Wednesday, demanding to know who gave the order to redact references to the Islamic State out of the Orlando shooter's 911 call.

In an appearance on the "Kelly File," Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge recalled intensely questioning Lynch on the issue, but the attorney general dodged her inquiries. Lynch would not tell the Herridge where the order originated.

Kelly described the Justice Department's decision to redact any mentions of shooter Omar Mateen's allegiance to the Islamic State as "very suspicious." The unredacted version was later released.

"Was it the White House? Is that why [Lynch] won't tell us who told her to redact those transcripts?" Kelly asked.

"We want to know who decided," she continued. "Whose call was it? Was it a political call made from the White House?"

Lynch also argued the Justice Department didn't want to release the Islamic State references because it "did not want to provide a further platform for the propaganda of the killer," but that reason didn't fly with Kelly, who said government officials haven't been "sensitive" in the past.

"We’ve had other terror attacks — they’ve never felt sensitive to the victims before and gave us just the facts about the terror attack," she said, "other than just denying it was terror, i.e., in the case of Fort Hood."

Concluding her remarks on the issue, the Fox News anchor slammed Lynch for her comments that the best way to respond to terror is through compassion and love.

"I get, OK, love is good, but, like, I'm thinking the guys who behead little boys — love may not be the answer," Kelly charged.
