Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump earned a victory in Ohio, a swing state that every Republican who went on to the White House has won, maintaining his Electoral College lead.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was victorious in Virginia, her running mate Tim Kaine's home state, as well as in Connecticut and New Mexico shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Clinton also won the swing-state of Colorado and Trump succeeded in the states of Montana and Louisiana. Toss-up states Florida, Iowa, Nevada and New Hampshire were still too early to call at 10:30 p.m.
With this latest haul, Trump's electoral vote stands at 168. Clinton, for her part, holds 131 Electoral College votes.
