Pennsylvania elementary school thanks ‘secret Santa’ for act of kindness for students in need

A western Pennsylvania elementary school is thanking a “secret Santa” for performing an act of kindness for their students by paying off their overdrawn lunch accounts.

Amy Larcinese, the principal of H.W. Good Elementary School in Herminie told KDKA-TV that the donor’s action is proof that “there are very good people in this world” and said that for some of the students “the only meal they get are the two they get in school.” Some of those same students have overdrawn lunch accounts.

“I know that it’s not that they don’t want to pay their account balances, they just can’t afford to do it right now,” Larcinese said.

The principal said that the donor “showed up here yesterday with a check, paid off all the account balances and also asked if there was a student with a very large account balance, and paid for that child’s lunch for the rest of the month as well.”

The “secret Santa” wishes to remain anonymous, but Larcinese said he had a child who once attended the school.

“He does not want to be recognized,” Larcinese said. “I am sworn to secrecy.”

KDKA reports that the parents of the students whose accounts were paid off will receive a note telling them that the accounts have been settled.

“It’s an amazing feeling someone would want to help as many students as they have,” Larcinese said.
