Conservative think tank claims Obama's lack of two important traits 'emboldened' Russia

A conservative think tank says President Barack Obama "emboldened" Russia to allegedly meddle in the U.S. elections.

In a tweet sent out Friday morning, the Washington, D.C.-based Heritage Foundation, which has supported President-elect Donald Trump throughout his transition to become commander in chief, said there are two things Russian President Vladimir Putin respects: strength and consistency.

"In the last eight years, President Obama has shown neither," the organization's tweet reads.

A 64-second video, which was also included in the post, says Obama "squandered" his opportunity and, as a result, Russia was "emboldened" to act.

Showing a still photo of the former KGB agent, the clip concludes by saying, "It's time to deal with Putin from a position of strength."
