Dem Kamala Harris tried to blame Trump for 'shrinking' middle class — it instantly backfired

Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) took to Twitter late Friday to lament over the "shrinking" middle class, but Twitter users quickly pointed out a huge problem with her tweet.

"The middle class is shrinking & income inequality is increasing," Harris tweeted.

"We must focus on the basics: good-paying jobs & affordable healthcare," she said.

Twitter users agreed with Harris' points, but quickly challenged her over her implication that these problems are because of President Donald Trump.

Instead, users informed Harris that former President Barack Obama, one of Harris' close friends, is responsible for the economic problems facing Americans, in addition to the "failed policies" of "liberal progressive Democrats."

Still others blamed Obama's signature legislative acheivement as president, the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare:

Needless to say, Trump is not responsible for any of the problems Harris listed, given that he's still less than two months into his presidency.
