The Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden set his sights on a much smaller target Friday during an appearance on "Fox and Friends."
Former SEAL Rob O'Neill, who is credited with taking down bin Laden in 2011, tore into Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher, who earlier in the week incited controversy after he said he wanted to "vomit" when he witnessed a first-class passenger give up his seat to a solider.
"Some guy gave up his first class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I'm trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul," Ciccariello-Maher tweeted last Sunday.
O'Neill, a distinguished solider, had a lot to say about Ciccariello-Maher's comments.
"I started getting hit up by friends of mine like Marcus Luttrell and he was like, 'Why am I not on a plane when stuff like this happens?'" O'Neill said. "That would have been fun to watch, this guy probably would have vomited for different reasons."
O'Neill went on to explain that Ciccariello-Maher "lives in a bubble" and merely acts like a "tough guy" in the confines of Twitter.
"I’m not sure which course he teaches, it might be ‘How to Grow Facial Hair Without Testosterone,'" O'Neill quipped.
"He's never been in the real world," he added. "He knows something he learned in a classroom from a guy who learned it in the same classroom."
Ciccariello-Maher, in a highly contentious interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday, tried to say his tweet showed support for the U.S. military, but O'Neill wasn't buying it.
"That’s just a bunch of nonsense," O'Neill said. "He’s going to use somebody just showing his support for one of the troops by giving a first-class seat, to try to make it something political, which is what he does. He doesn’t know what the war effort is."
"Someone saying 'I support the troops but I'm against this, this and this,' is not supporting the troops," O'Neill explained. "Real support for the troops ... is buying them a beer at the airport, paying for their meal, giving them a first class seat."
"This guy is just a blowhard, he likes to get attention, he's got nothing else really going on," O'Neill went on to say. "We really kind of laughed at this guy because he's really just a joke."
