Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) claimed Friday that President Donald Trump's recently unveiled tax plan, which was lauded by Republicans, will only "enrich" people like him: wealthy Americans.
"Trump’s tax 'plan' is nothing more than another attempt for Trump to enrich himself and his corporate donors," Harris tweeted.
Harris did not elaborate how Trump's tax plan, announced Wednesday, would "enrich himself and his corporate donors."
However, Trump's tax plan intends to cut tax rates for individuals and businesses to stimulate economic growth. The theory is: If individuals have more money in their pocket, they will spend more while if businesses have more money, they will be able to invest more in their employees and business.
As TheBlaze reported:
The proposal will cut the number of income tax brackets from seven to three, with the top rate being 35 percent, the median rate being 25 percent, and the lowest 10 percent. And in perhaps the most drastic cut, the business tax rate will be slashed from 35 percent to 15 percent.
The White House would also like to see the elimination of all tax deductions except the mortgage and charitable contribution deductions.
Given the facts, like that the plan seeks to benefit middle class Americans the most, Harris' criticisms don't stand up. In fact, they just appear to be typical liberal talking points, which almost always claim that Republicans "give tax breaks to the wealthy." Indeed, Trump's plan only decreases the top tax bracket by 4.6 percent — hardly an attempt to "enrich" the wealthiest Americans.
People were quick to see straight through Harris' claims:
@KamalaHarris Disgusting.

@KamalaHarris More likely it is a devious move by Trump to create jobs and force democrats into working for a living.

While one tweet summed up why Harris' assertion is just not true:
@KamalaHarris Letting people keep their own money is not "enriching" them. They enriched themselves and deserve to keep what they earned.
