Charles Krauthammer makes an icy prediction about the future of Jeff Sessions
July 20, 2017
During Thursday night's airing of "Special Report With Bret Baier," Charles Krauthammer predicted that it would be only a matter of time before Attorney General Jeff Sessions leaves — or is ousted from — his post as AG.
Explaining that President Donald Trump "undercut" Sessions with harsh criticisms in Trump's latest New York Times interview, where Trump said had he known that Sessions would recuse himself from the Russian investigation, he would have never appointed Sessions to the Attorney General post.
In the wide-ranging Times interview, about Sessions, Trump said, “Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
Krauthammer, on Thursday night, said, "There's a reason that ... leaders of any kind don't do that."
Further, the political commentator and analyst added that Sessions' reputation has likely been damaged as a result of Trump's criticisms, because anytime Sessions is brought up in the future, he'll likely be linked with having "been attacked by his own president."
"He's obviously lost the confidence of the president," Krauthammer said. "That sort of limits his tenure."
