Aaron Rodgers mocks Moderna at US Open in support of unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic

Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers mocked vaccine manufacturer Moderna at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York while supporting tennis star Novak Djokovic who is famously unvaccinated.

Rodgers, who plays for the New York Jets, was in attendance at the high-profile event and posted a photo of Djokovic to his Instagram page with the caption "Bucket list [checkmark] being able to witness the greatness of [Novak Djokovic] in person at #ArthurAsheStadium."

A logo for Moderna, which was an official partner of the event, was shown in the picture, which Rodgers crossed out and replaced with "novaxdjokovic" in response to the athlete's unvaccinated status. Rodgers is also famously unvaccinated.

Djokovic was notably denied entry to Australia for a tournament in 2022 after he wouldn't disclose his vaccination status, but he denied his rejection was over the fact that he hadn't received a vaccine. Rather, he claimed the government thought he would cause some sort of anti-vaccine uprising:

"What people probably don't know is that I was not deported from Australia on the basis that I was not vaccinated, or I broke any rules or that I made an error in my visa declaration. All of that was actually approved and validated by the Federal Court of Australia and the Minister for Immigration," Djokovic said, according to the BBC.

"The reason why I was deported from Australia was because the Minister for Immigration used his discretion to cancel my visa based on his perception that I might create some anti-vax sentiment in the country or in the city, which I completely disagree with," he added.

Djokovic was even denied entry to the United States in March 2023, less than a month before the COVID-19 "emergency" was officially ended by the Biden administration.

Rodgers faced similar controversy over a lack of vaccination with the NFL while playing for the Green Bay Packers. Despite clearing his medical status with his organization and the league, Rodgers faced backlash in the media and was even called a liar by pundits like Stephen A. Smith.

The confusion arose from Rodgers saying he had been immunized, meaning he had received immunization treatments against COVID-19, with reporters saying that he lied about being vaccinated. Rodgers explained on "The Joe Rogan Experience" that he is allergic to an ingredient in the MRNA vaccines and that it was recommended that he not receive a shot.

At the same time, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine "just got pulled at the time for blood clots."

Rodgers said that he "found a protocol" that he felt was "the best available" and used by "hundreds if not thousands of people."
