Beto O’Rourke embarrasses himself while livestreaming his haircut and massage

Just days after complaining about his "privilege," Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke livestreamed himself getting a haircut and a massage.

Social media users torched the former Texas lawmaker after his online appearance.

What are the details?

During the 12-minute video, as O'Rourke's barber Manuel cut the candidate's hair, O'Rourke spoke Spanish, discussed topics like his children, economy, education reform, and his appearance on "The View," which he said was difficult but enjoyable.

During his appearance on "The View," O'Rourke complained that his Vanity Fair profile only highlighted his privilege and admitted that the profile — which quoted him as saying "I was born to be in this" — may have been a mistake.

"Yeah, I think it reinforces that perception of privilege and that headline that said I was, 'I was born to be in this' in the article I was attempting to say that I felt that my calling is a public service," he told the co-hosts of "The View" Monday. "No one's born to be president of the United States of America."

He also touched upon his ear hair, which also received a trim on Wednesday. He said that trimming his ear hair was necessary to avoid it becoming "nasty."

After his haircut, Manuel broke out the massager and began to run it over O'Rourke's back. O'Rourke asked Manuel if this was called the "máquina de relax" — roughly translated as "relaxation machine" — but Manuel corrected him and simply called it a massager.

"This feels good!" O'Rourke said with a toothy grin.

Elsewhere in the video, another customer walked in. O'Rourke greeted him, but had to introduce himself as a former lawmaker and current presidential candidate because the customer just couldn't pinpoint who he was.

The video, at the time of this writing, has been viewed more than 35,000 times.

What was the response?

Much of social media mocked O'Rourke's livestream.

One Twitter user wrote, "'Beto, you have been accused of running a vanity campaign. What do you say to that?' 'Let's live-stream my haircut!'"

Another added, "TBH, this is a bigger mistake than debuting in Vanity Fair."

"O.K., the ego of Beto ORourke, livestreaming his haircut, thinking his 'fans' will find that interesting, should be quite enough to vote NO for this guy," a fellow Twitter user remarked.

Another user commented on O'Rourke's polling numbers. "Beto, you're polling at under 3% in the primary States so to jump start your campaign you livestreamed your haircut," the user wrote. "The only thing you've jumped is the shark."
