California man sentenced to 33 years in prison after publishing stories of child rape, computer-generated images: Report

A man in California was recently sentenced to 33 years and nine months in prison for a series of obscenity crimes concerning children.

The U.S. Department of Justice published a report on Thursday that said Ron Kuhlmeyer, 65, of Santa Rosa, had apparently operated a website that involved stories about the sexual abuse and rape of underage children.

The authorities concluded that Kuhlmeyer had been running the illegal website from Belize. The report stated that Kuhlmeyer had written many of the abusive stories, but there were other offenders who also contributed to the website. Some of the stories featured on the website had previously appeared on Mr. Double, another website that featured writings involving the sexual abuse of children.

The stories Kuhlmeyer was involved with often depicted prepubescent children being the victims of rape, torture, and murder. Additionally, there were some stories that included computer-generated images of prepubescent children being victimized, per the report by the DOJ.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Kuhlmeyer pleaded guilty in June to five counts of importation or transportation of obscene material and one count of distributing obscene visual representations of children being sexually abused.

The site Mr. Double was apparently run by a man named Thomas Arthur, who was sentenced to prison for 40 years back in 2021, according to prosecutors. The site was subsequently taken down in 2019.

According to a 2021 report by the DOJ, "Arthur began operating the Mr. Double website in 1996 and began charging members for access to the site in 1998. The website was dedicated to publishing writings that detail the sexual abuse of children, including the rape, torture and murder of infants and toddlers."

"Arthur sexually assaulted two females who came forward during the investigation of this case."

"Court documents and statements made in court showed that in approximately 1992, Arthur drugged an adult woman living with him, sexually assaulted her and video recorded it. In another instance, in the early 1980s, Arthur molested a girl when she was four or five years old, who was the daughter of a friend and business associate."

Kuhlmeyer had already spent six years behind bars in California after being convicted of continual sexual abuse of a child in 2008.

The case against Kuhlmeyer was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, which was launched back in 2006 by the Justice Department.
