Elon Musk announces GOP support. Now AOC wants to sell her Tesla.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) says she wants to sell her Tesla.

The young lawmaker made the announcement just weeks after SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced his support for the Republican Party.

What are the details?

Earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez said that she was initially very happy when she first bought the Model 3 Tesla in 2020.

"It was the only [electric vehicle] that could get me from New York to Washington on, like, one or one-and-a-half charges," she told Bloomberg.

Now that Musk has embraced the Republican Party, Ocasio-Cortez no longer wants the vehicle.

"I would love to switch," she added, pointing to her desire to purchase a vehicle "made by unionized workers."

According to the Bloomberg report, "The only union-made electric vehicles for sale in the U.S. are the Chevrolet Bolt, the slightly larger Bolt EUV, and Ford's F-150 Lightning pickup. Only the Bolt was available for sale in 2020."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), however, has voiced his consideration of purchasing a Musk vehicle and is thrilled that the billionaire businessman has chosen his home state for manufacturing.

"When Elon moved to Texas, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with him, urging him to come to Texas and saying, ‘Look, we like jobs in Texas, we don’t want you to shut down, we want you to come here and hire a bunch of Texans,’” Cruz said.

Of Musk and his apparent GOP support, Ocasio-Cortez added, "He's a billionaire. I could care less what he thinks."

What else?

On Thursday night, Musk tweeted at Ocasio-Cortez. Pointing at billionaires and politicians, he wrote, "Who do you trust less? Real question.”

At the time of this reporting, more than 2.9 million people have voted in the poll. The response has been overwhelmingly anti-politician, with more than 75% of respondents saying they had less trust in politicians.

Musk then added, “@aoc I dare you to run the same poll with your followers.”
