A whole lot of 'ums'

Virginia college students insisted on camera that President Donald Trump should be impeached, but couldn't give one reason why when further pressed for clarification.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced a formal impeachment inquiry against Trump on Tuesday. You can read more on the background of the inquiry here.

What are the details?

Campus Reform Editor-in-Chief Cabot Phillips visited the campus of Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, Wednesday.

Phillips asked students if they believed Trump should be impeached and, if so, on what basis. Every single one of the students Phillips spoke to agreed with Pelosi, but none of them could coherently put together reasons as to why they believe impeaching Trump is the best course of action for the United States.

Here are some of the more interesting remarks below:

  • "Um, I'm sure there's reasons that I don't know of."
  • "Um, I don't know if I can say any specific type of event or specific action."
  • "Um, well, I'm not that into politics. I don't really pay that much attention to it."
  • "Um, honestly, well, I think it's a lot of, um, just how popular he is."
Not one of the students actually responded with accusations of actual impeachable offenses, such as treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
