Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has a message for Democrats who oppose President Donald Trump's border wall — and he's not holding back.
What's Graham's message?
Speaking on Fox News Friday, Graham delivered a blistering critique of Democrats, likening them to "children" throwing a tantrum. According to Graham, it's time for Trump to "break" their resistance.
Number one, when you make a promise to the American people, you should keep it. The one thing I like about President Trump, he is trying his best to keep his promise. He promised to build a wall, and he is going to fight hard to keep that promise. After the caravan, if you don't see the need for more border security, you are blind.
Here's the problem. I think Democrats hate Trump so much they want him to lose, even though it would be good for the country to work with him on border security. And if he doesn't break 'em now, it's going to be a terrible 2019," he added. "So Mr. President, dig in.
Asked why Trump doesn't accept the $1.6 billion for border security that Democrats have offered, Graham said it's because Democrats offered the money last year, signifying their unwillingness to work with the president to find compromise. And if Democrats continue to hold out, Graham predicted bad things will come for Democrats in 2020.
"If they are not willing to work with the president, I think they are going to hear it from the American people in 2020," Graham said.
"If you don't see the need for more border security, then you are just not paying attention. The president of the United States is right to want more money to secure our borders, to build the wall as part of border security," he later added. "Democrats are wrong to act like children, to say you can't get a penny more."
What did Graham predict will happen?
The South Carolina senator said he was glad Trump "picked this fight," explaining that if Republicans don't fight for more money for border security now, Democrats will never let them have it.
In the end, Graham predicted Trump will be victorious.
"I'll tell you how it ends. President Trump is going to get more money for the border," Graham said.
