President Joe Biden warned Americans to brace for "a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated" following his COVID-19 briefing last Thursday.

"I want to send a direct message to the American people: Due to the steps we've taken, Omicron has not yet spread as fast as it would have otherwise done," Biden said.

"It's here now, and it's spreading, and it's going to increase," Biden said of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. "We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated, for themselves, their families and the hospitals they'll soon overwhelm," he added.

On "The News & Why it Matters," BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales, Chad Prather, Jaco Booyens, and John Doyle discussed the president's most recent doom-and-gloom message, comparing it to his "very dark winter" warning last year. They also talked about President Biden's campaign promise to get COVID-19 under control, given that the 2021 death toll from the virus has now exceeded that of 2020.
