Was it a gaffe, or did Biden just suggest he wants to ban 9mm handguns?

Biden claimed there's 'no rational basis' for 'high-caliber' 9mm bullets

On “The Rubin Report” Tuesday, BlazeTV host Dave Rubin discussed President Joe Biden's non-sensical remarks on Memorial Day that suggested he either knows something we don't about a push to ban handguns, or he knows nothing at all about guns — not to mention the U.S. Constitution.

"A .22-caliber bullet will lodge in a lung, and we can probably get it out, may be able to get it and save a life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body,” Biden told reporters outside the White House on Monday. "So, the idea of these high-caliber weapons is of — there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of ... self-protection, hunting. … remember, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, was never absolute," he added.

Pointing out that 9mm ammunition is typically used in handguns, not high-caliber weapons, Dave wondered if the president accidentally admitted to a forthcoming push to ban handguns or if he was, once again, completely confused.

"What he said in a very mangled confused sort of way there was a real escalation in terms of what the Democrats are doing on guns because, in essence, he's supporting a ban on 9-millimeter handguns. These are low-caliber weapons. This is not a high-capacity weapon," Dave said.

"It's interesting because Justin Trudeau ... was talking about banning handguns, and now you have Joe Biden, in essence, saying the same thing," he added. "Now, [Biden] may be confused, I suppose. Every time he says something, you don't know if he means it or they wrote it or he's just going off the cuff or if he literally has no idea what he's saying. But he is suggesting a ban on nine-millimeter handguns."

Dave was also quick to refute Biden's claim that "the Second Amendment, was never absolute."

"That is absolutely a lie. The Second Amendment is absolute," Dave stated. "And, yes, when the Second Amendment was codified in the Bill of Rights the average person was allowed to have a cannon. There was nothing that said that they couldn't, okay. The idea was that you could have a well-formed militia that could stop government tyranny, stop government overreach ... so that's just a lie. And he just keeps saying it and nobody stops him in the media."
