Author: We complain about America's two-party system – but here’s why we need it

The electoral college is complex and confusing – but our country's founders put it into place for good reason.

On today’s show, author Tara Ross talked about her new book, “The Indispensable Electoral College: How the Founders’ Plan Saves Our Country from Mob Rule,” and explained why the popular vote is no way to elect a president. She also analyzed America’s two-party system for strengths and weaknesses, explaining why two parties are better than Europe’s multiple-party systems.

“What you end up with is socialists in a run-off,” she said. “These kinds of things do happen overseas; we don’t deal with that here because of our two-party system.”
