Former radical leftist professor excoriated by liberal mob for tweeting 'discursive violence

Michael Rectenwald, a professor at New York University and former libertarian communist, joined Glenn on Wednesday’s episode of “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.” They discussed, among other topics, Rectenwald's journey from radical Marxist leftist to the self-described “Deplorable NYU Prof” who wields the Twitter handle @antipcnyuprof as a way to combat the injustices of the "social justice" mob.

After sharing, without comment, a "hilarious" tweet about preferred pronoun usage on college campuses, Rectenwald was condemned, called a "transphobe," and accused of "discursive violence."

"I was roundly attacked by thousands of people on the internet and hundreds of people inside my university, put on paid leave, quickly damned by a group calling themselves 'the diversity, equity and inclusion group,' and the scales just fell from my eyes," Rectenwald explained. "I started seeing the left for what it really is ... a totalitarian left."

Asked by Glenn if he believes that the social justice ideology could lead to physical violence, Rectenwald responded, "I saw first hand what communists say to each other ... and they relish the idea of putting a gun to somebody's head that they don't agree with. They talk about it all the time, and I was actually threatened with the same."

"The minute I crossed these people, I saw what they were made of and it scared the living hell out of me. I mean it was terrifying, and it just turned me around entirely," he added.
