Glenn: DACA decision reveals this about lawmakers in Congress

President Donald Trump announced this week that he is ending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a program shielding illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. while under the age of 16, and leaving the legislative work up to Congress.

DACA was instated by an executive order from President Barack Obama; a temporary fix that must be renewed every two years, the program protects around 800,000 people from deportation. Trump seemed to imply in a tweet that he expects Congress to craft legislation giving individuals using DACA to stay in the U.S. a path to living here legally.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced this week that DACA would be ending. In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump said, “Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!”

On Wednesday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program,” Glenn Beck criticized members of Congress who are too eager to let the president do their job. Immigration policy should happen through legislation, not executive order.

“Even Congress doesn’t trust Congress anymore,” Glenn said. “Now Trump has returned the power back to Congress, and now they’re complaining about it. … When decisions are tough, they fall all over themselves to give their own power away.”
