Lindsey Graham says he doesn’t want socialized health care. Does he mean it?
September 28, 2017
Doc had a stern warning for progressive Republicans this morning: “Your voting record will take us to single payer.”
After more than eight months into President Donald Trump’s term, Republicans have still not managed to repeal Obamacare despite the many, many times they promised they would.
What’s the latest news?
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) defended his friend Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in a CNN debate for not voting for the latest GOP health care plan – which was called the “Graham-Cassidy” bill because Graham co-sponsored it. He claimed that he and McCain both definitely do not want a single-payer health care plan that would be controlled by the government.
What was Graham’s defense?
Going for the emotional appeal, Graham said that because McCain “was willing to die for this country,” he should be able to vote however he wants.
Doc found that explanation frustrating. As much as we admire servicemen and women, being in the military doesn’t mean it’s right when you make bad decisions that affect the country.
