Mike Rowe says Nike should have honored 9/11 heroes in new ad

Politics

On Tuesday, Pat shared a powerful response Mike Rowe gave to a commenter online regarding Nike's decision to feature Colin Kaepernick in an advertisement. In a post entitled, "We're Going To Do Something" one commenter noted Rowe's silence on the issue and Rowe's response was telling.

Rowe said what comes to mind when he thinks of sacrifice is Tom Burnett. Burnett was on United Flight 93 on 9/11 and one of the last calls he made was to his wife, Deena.

“You’ve been very quiet about the Kaepernick PR disaster at Nike,” noted the commenter. “Any thoughts?”

Rowe gave several thoughts on Nike, kneeling, bravery, sacrifice, and courage. He then shared the heartwrenching transcript of the last call Burnett made to his wife.

Pat read his response on air and highlighted the heroism we don't often think about.
