Penn Jillette's parents both died at very respectable ages, but in very poor health. Recently on "Glenn," he told Glenn Beck that he hopes we start learning not just how to prolong human life, but quality of life.
We have instead prolonged dying, he said. He thought robots and artificial intelligence may help in that endeavor, along with our evolving understanding of DNA and the microorganisms inside us.
Jillette also believed that giving life meaning will become more difficult as we live longer. Glenn affirmed that faith and work give him a sense of purpose.
Penn agreed that those things, as well as helping others and involving oneself in the community, also convey meaning for as long as we participate.
