Watch: Why do Charlie Rose, Al Franken have apologies that sound so similar?
November 21, 2017
Two of the latest men to be accused of sexually harassing women are Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and PBS newsman Charlie Rose. Both have tried to do damage control with apology statements.
On today’s show, Doc had a thoughtful take on Rose and Franken’s respective apologies – which sound suspiciously similar and seem to follow this format:
- Apologize without admitting guilt.
- Keep it vague.
- Explain why your alleged victims are remembering wrong.
- Blame society for your personal issues.
- Hope that we’ve all “learned something.”
Rose and Franken both conveniently “remembered” events surrounding their alleged sexual harassment and groping incidents differently than their accusers.
