Kid Rock excoriates media, 'alt-left,' Al Sharpton: I am the 'King of Detroit love

Kid Rock seemingly fired back at Al Sharpton's civil rights group, who, last week, called for the musician's Detroit stint as the opening act at a new sports arena to be cancelled.

Sharpton's National Action Network took issue with Kid Rock’s support of Trump, the appearance of Confederate flags during some of his concerts, and attacks against national anthem protests.

In a blistering essay shared on the musician's on Facebook page, Kid Rock — who has indicated a possible run for the Michigan Senate — advised his followers to pay zero attention to the "garbage" that the "extreme left" is generating.

What Kid Rock said

Kid Rock — whose real name is Robert Ritchie — began his rant with profane suggestions for the "extreme" left and right.

"F*** the extreme left and the extreme right!" he wrote.

"They are trying to use the old confederate flag BS ... to stir the pot, when we all know none of this would be going on if I were not thinking of running for office," the rocker continued.

"I am the bonified [sic] KING OF DETROIT LOVE," Kid Rock boasted, "and it makes me smile down deep that you haters know that!"

He added that he's very "disappointed" in Detroit organizations and entities that he claims to have supported through donations and who have not stood up against what he called "unfounded attacks" by Detroit Free Press "jackasses."

The musician went further, and said that he will begin to "focus my philanthropy efforts" on organizations "besides the ones I have supported in the past."

He then urged Sharpton's National Action Network to "go ahead and make up these losses," and in the same breath, questioned whether or not Sharpton "paid his back taxes yet."

Continuing to rail against national anthem protests, Kid Rock added, "To be clear — f*** ANYONE who takes a knee or sits during our national anthem!"

"Pretty sure if Russell Wilson or Tom Brady were doing it they would have no problem finding a job playing for any team they wanted in the NFL!" he raved.

He concluded his status update with "I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!!" and signed off, "God Bless."

National Action Network raises concerns

Last week, the National Action Network’s Michigan chapter called for the cancellation of Kid Rock’s series of concerts as the opening act for the new Little Caesars sports arena in Detroit.

The Rev. Charles Williams II, Michigan's National Action Network president, issued a statement about Kid Rock’s political rhetoric, calling the move to feature the musician as the opening act for the new sports arena in Detroit “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

“When you hire Kid Rock, who is known to be dog-whistling and cat-calling to white supremacist organizations and the white supremacist community, ‘alt-right,’ whatever you want to call them, and you take our tax dollars to do that? That’s wrong,” he said.
