WH examining a third private email account Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump used for official business

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump used a third private email account to conduct White House business, Politico reported Monday evening.

A private server

White House officials are examining the account, which is on a private a domain that Kushner, a senior adviser to the president, set up in December called “ijkfamily.com,” according to the report. They are also reviewing two additional private accounts used by the president’s daughter and son-in-law.

What kind of information was in the emails?

Politico reported that the emails associated with the private account include “nonpublic travel documents, internal schedules and some official White House materials.”

Who had access to the account?

Both Kushner and Trump had access to the account as well as “their personal household staff for family scheduling,” the report said.

What did the White House say?

The report prompted comparisons to former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct government business as secretary of state. Trump frequently hit Clinton’s email use as a candidate for president.

In a statement provided to ABC News on Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said, “The White House instructs staff to fully comply with the Presidential Records Act and applicable guidelines for work-related communications.”

“In light of recent congressional inquiries, we have briefed staff on the need to preserve records and working to ensure compliance,” she added.
