Progressives blame capitalism and the GOP for Hurricane Harvey, not weather

Instead of spreading the message of unity as the state of Texas recovers from historic flooding, members of the left continue to take jabs at the notoriously conservative state of Texas.

Kenneth Storey, now a former visiting sociology professor at the University of Tampa, tweeted: “I don’t [sic] believe in Karma but this kinda [sic] feels like if for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them.

According to Fox News, when someone replied to Storey's tweet, Storey suggested "... good people there need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes," he wrote. "I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.” When asked if Trump supporters in Florida deserve what Texans are experiencing, he replied, "Yep, those who voted for him here deserve it as well."

The university quickly fired Storey, condemned his comments, and issued a statement that said: “We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused. As Floridians, we are well aware of the destruction and suffering associated with tropical weather. Our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted by Hurricane Harvey.”

Storey apologized Monday and immediately deleted his Twitter account following the backlash.

Another radical member of the left, Kate Aronoff, who writes for In These Times magazine, blamed Hurricane Harvey on capitalism, tweeting:

Luckily, members on Twitter were there to counter her nonsensical claims. It didn't take long for CNN to blame the storm on climate change, or for the Young Turks to begin a petition calling for federal funds to be withheld from major oil companies in the region.

Today on "Think Tank" the panel discussed why progressives feel the need to politicize every natural disaster.

"Well, It's funny because you know when she wrote that tweet -- or story, she thought she was making an intelligent point," added Caleb Parker.
