Confirmed: North Korea fired a ballistic missile

On Tuesday, reports emerged that North Korea has fired an unidentified ballistic missile.

South Korean news agency Yonhap said the missile flew eastward. U.S. officials confirmed the South Korean report to Reuters without offering further details.

According to a translation from, Japan's Prime Minister's Office for disaster and crisis management information tweeted: “North Korea launched a missile that has the possibility of arriving in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of our country.”

South Korean unification minister Cho Myoung-gyon said Tuesday that North Korea is developing nuclear weapons faster than expected.

“North Korea has been developing its nuclear weapons at a faster-than-expected pace. We cannot rule out the possibility that North Korea could announce its completion of a clear force within one year,” Cho said.

This report comes just after U.S. government experts warned that North Korea could conduct a new missile test within days, its first since it fired a missile over Japan in September.

Last week, President Donald Trump designated North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism. The dictatorial Kim Jong Un regime called the president’s decision a “serious provocation and violent infringement.”
