Despite divisive impeachment proceedings, lawmakers can still agree on something: Growing the debt
December 16, 2019
The following is an excerpt from Blaze Media’s Capitol Hill Brief email newsletter:
We’ve got a busy week ahead of us on Capitol Hill.
After the House Judiciary Committee passed two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Friday, the full House is expected to vote on impeachment this week before leaving for Christmas break.
But while many are distracted by the impeachment drama this week, lawmakers will have more cover than usual to join hands and pass a massive spending bill with far less public scrutiny than usual. Last week lawmakers announced a deal to lock in spending increases from the last budget deal, thereby reminding everyone that regardless of how contentious and acrimonious other political fights may get, Washington, D.C., can always find a way to come together on more national debt.
