The following is an excerpt from Blaze Media’s daily Capitol Hill Brief email newsletter:
The second night of the second round of Democrat debates took place last night. Here’s what went down.
- Tom Perez performed a truly awkward and cringeworthy rendition of “Old MacDonald” as “Old McConnell.”
- Joe Biden jokingly asked Kamala Harris to “go easy on me, kid,” at the beginning.
- Abortion was discussed only briefly onstage, which is still substantially more than it was discussed at the debate the night before.
- On climate change, Andrew Yang said it’s “too late” to change anything and that we should begin “moving our people to higher ground.”
- Tulsi Gabbard demanded that Kamala Harris apologize to the “people who suffered under [her] reign as prosecutor.”
- Biden basically became a punching bag for the other candidates, especially when it came to Obama’s deportation record.
- Biden did get a good jab in on Harris’ “Medicare for All” proposal.
- The former VP also completely eviscerated Kirsten Gillibrand on her flip-flops about him.
- However, Biden closed with a confusing last statement that people were left trying to decipher.
The winner? Again, it’s hard to tell. Biden came away showing that he’s got more fight than his opponents probably expected, but Tulsi Gabbard — despite the fact that progressives hate her record on gay rights — came away as the most-searched candidate, according to Google.
