Rep. Biggs pitches plan to fund border wall by penalizing countries of illegal immigrants

Conservative Review

Representative Andy Biggs, R.-Ariz., introduced a bill Tuesday to help fund the border wall by penalizing countries whose citizens enter the United States illegally, the Hill reported.

The Fund and Complete the Border Wall Act would penalize countries $2,000 in foreign aid for each person who crosses the U.S. border illegally and allocate those funds to the border wall. As Conservative Review has previously reported, Border Patrol agents are currently only fifty percent effective, and vast numbers of immigrants enter the United States illegally each month.

“Even with a Republican-controlled House and Senate, we have failed to secure the funds for the border wall,” Biggs said in a statement. “In the meantime, our Border Patrol agents suffer demoralizing losses of resources and personnel. Some in Congress view border security as leverage for an amnesty deal, but that would turn a crisis into a catastrophe."

The bill also increases I-94 fees from $6 to $25, which would fund Border Patrol salaries and the border wall fund. Biggs has called for the wall to be built by December 2019.
