The mainstreaming of Valerie Plame’s favorite anti-Semite

Disgraced former CIA official Valerie Plame made waves Thursday after she tweeted a grossly anti-Semitic article titled, “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.”

Plame, who was intimately involved in the Obama administration’s campaign to sell the Iran deal to the American people, linked to an article that, among other things, called for Jews to be labeled as such while making media appearances.

“For those American Jews who lack any shred of integrity, the media should be required to label them at the bottom of the television screen whenever they pop up, e.g. Bill Kristol is Jewish and an outspoken supporter of the state of Israel,” wrote author Philip Giraldi, who, like Plame, was also an officer at the CIA.

“Jewish groups and deep pocket individual donors not only control the politicians, they own and run the media and entertainment industries,” Giraldi continued, adding that Jews “only have real loyalty to Israel.”

“Don’t put them into national security positions involving the Middle East, where they will potentially be conflicted,” he advised.

Giraldi’s overt anti-Semitism made its way into every paragraph of the 1,500-word piece at “The Unz Review,” an anti-Semitic conspiracy blog.

Yet this is far from the only organization that publishes Valerie Plame’s favorite anti-Semitic columnist. He enjoys mainstream recognition on both the Right and the Left.

Giraldi is a weekly columnist (and at one point a contributing editor) at The American Conservative, a publication founded by the influential Pat Buchanan, who, like Giraldi, appreciates the Iran deal and has expressed troubling views on Israel. Even after Giraldi’s “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars,” The American Conservative published his column Thursday.

But The American Conservative isn’t the only place that gives the proud anti-Semite Giraldi space to voice his views. It’s a bipartisan endeavor.

Giraldi has written dozens of pieces for the Huffington Post, discussing Iran, Israel, terrorism, and the Middle East.

And he continues to publish pieces in mainstream publications.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Giraldi was a foreign policy adviser to Libertarian icon Ron Paul. The kooky former CIA officer is a regular guest on Paul’s “Liberty Report,” which is produced by the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Giraldi is currently the executive director of the Council for the National Interest (not to be confused with Center for the National Interest, a renowned realist foreign policy think tank), a conspiracy site that blames many of the problems in America on the Jews and Israel.

There are several outlets and prominent figures on both the Right and the Left that continue to enable and provide a platform for views that should never have made it off the front page of Stormfront. Philip Giraldi’s anti-Semitism has no place in acceptable discourse, and that’s why it’s so important to name and shame those who, knowing his obsessive hate for the Jewish people, continue to publish his writing anyway.
