Trump plagiarizes McCain’s immigration talking points, yet Sessions endorses

There has been a debate raging for years within the Republican Party over American sovereignty.  On one side is Sen. Jeff Sessions who believes, as our Founders did, that the American worker and taxpayer should be the sole focus of lawmakers.  On the other side are John McCain and Lindsey Graham who have been peddling this mindless platitude for a decade that illegals are needed to “do the jobs Americans won’t do.”

Here is Senator McCain back in 2004 stating his view.

We are on the cusp of witnessing one of the most counterintuitive political outcomes in American history.  Many of the voters who agree with Senator Sessions in principle are supporting a man who has not only sided with the McCain faction for years, but is echoing McCain’s worst talking point even while scamming the voters during the election.  Indeed, just yesterday, Sessions himself endorsed Trump!

When taken to task for hiring illegal aliens and petitioning for H-2B foreign workers, Donald Trump came full circle to John McCain’s position, asserting that there are no Americans who want to do these jobs.

The problem with Trump’s contention is that 300 Americans applied for jobs at his Mar-a-Logo club in Florida, yet only 3.4% of those selected for jobs were Americans.  The Donald has been petitioning for foreign workers for years, with the most recent request made in July 2015, after announcing his run for president.  Donald Trump had also bragged about illegal aliens, not just foreign workers, being responsible for his beautiful golf courses.

This is not the first time Trump has relapsed into his old liberal position on immigration.  During the October CNBC debate, he defended Mark Zuckerberg, the man Senator Sessions has fought so vociferously, for wanting to bring in more foreign workers.  What’s worse, just like during last week’s debate, Trump peddled the banal talking point of the open borders left that there are thousands of foreign students graduating from Ivy League institutions being sent back en masse:

I was not at all critical of him [Zuckerberg]. I was not at all. In fact, frankly, he's complaining about the fact that we're losing some of the most talented people. They go to Harvard; they go to Yale; they go to Princeton. They come from another country and they are immediately sent out.  I am all in favor of keeping these talented people here so they can go to work in Silicon Valley.

Later on in the debate, moderator Becky Quick asked Trump whether he supports the H-1B program and why he previously criticized Zuckerberg.  Trump simply said, “I’m in favor of people coming into this country legally…. You can call it anything you want.”

This man gets away with lying and never answers a question directly.

The same thing happened during last week’s debate.  When questioned about his previous criticism of Mitt Romney as too “mean spirited” and conservative on immigration (yes, that Romney!) for uttering the term “self-deportation,” Trump proceeded to praise self-deportation.  When Rubio continuously pressed Trump for why he criticized Romney for saying the same thing, Trump pulled the same magic trick and distracted with a totally different point that he knew would resonate with conservatives: “I criticized Mitt Romney for losing the election. He should have won that election.”

Yes, con man, we know Romney should have won the election, but part of the reason he lost was because he refused to press Obama on immigration. Yet, you thought he was too tough!

Sadly, conservatives are victims of their own success on the immigration issue.  Most of the electorate agrees with us on the issue, yet instead of manning up and running as open borders candidates, everyone runs in a Republican primary as pro-sovereignty.  We are squeezed out by two con men on this issue.

The paradoxical political dynamic that is unfolding before us can best be summed up by the following observation.  At the rally in Madison, Alabama where Senator Sessions endorsed Trump, the pastor who delivered the invocation prayed for a president who will defund Planned Parenthood.

Evidently, nobody told this pastor that Trump is the only Republican still defending that barbaric organization.
