Vote Alert: Cut, Cap, and Balance Act

The "Cut, Cap, and Balance" act would have increased the debt ceiling in exchange for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, a 20% cap on future spending, and $110 billion in spending cuts. "Cut, Cap, and Balance" would have set our nation on a path to long term fiscal sustainability and would have saved $5.8 trillion over 10 years. This bill passed the House 234 – 190 on July 19, 2011, but was blocked in the Senate.
