VP Mike Pence CARPET-BOMBS 'moderate' Joe Manchin's liberal voting record
February 01, 2018
Vice President Mike Pence wants to play a key role in ensuring that Republicans keep their congressional majorities through the 2018 midterm elections. The vice president is preparing to hit the campaign trail this year, crisscrossing the nation to tout the successes of the Trump administration, praise Republican candidates who support the pro-growth agenda of the Republican party, and savage incumbent Democrats in states President Donald Trump won in 2016.
On Wednesday, Pence set his sights on so-called "moderate" Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., opening a salvo against the Democrat on Twitter and emphasizing Manchin's liberal voting record.
I was in WV a few months ago & I spoke to the WV Chamber of Commerce. @Sen_JoeManchin was there – & I looked him in the eye and I told him, “Joe, the people of the Mountain State are counting on you,” so let’s “get this tax cut done together.” But #JoeVotedNo.

Joe Manchin voted NO to letting hard working families keep more of their hard-earned money. Joe voted NO on TAX CUTS for job creators. #JoeVotedNo

When the time came to repeal & replace the disaster of Obamacare, Joe voted NO. When we empowered West Virginia to defund Planned Parenthood, Joe voted NO. And when it comes to securing our Southern border, Joe said, “I’m not voting for the wall, either.” #JoeVotedNo

.@Sen_JoeManchin is going to keep voting against West Virginia & I think Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi are pretty happy w/ the way he votes. But WV needs to let him know that they EXPECT BETTER & they need to let Joe know that WEST VIRGINIA DESERVES BETTER. #JoeVotedNo

When it came time to vote on sweeping tax cuts that helped West Virginians keep more of their money & made it possible for companies like Worldwide Equipment to invest more in their workers, @SenCapito voted YES & #JoeVotedNo

Manchin, who bills himself as a centrist Democrat, holds a pitiful 16% "F" Liberty Score. The Democrat will adopt conservative rhetoric on the campaign trail back home, but when he goes to Washington, D.C., as Pence showed, he fits comfortably inside the pocket of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
In response, Manchin fired back at Pence, claiming this is why "Washington sucks."
"I am shocked that after the vice president worked for almost a year in a divisive and partisan way to take healthcare away from almost 200,000 West Virginians, bankrupt our hospitals, and push tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and huge corporations that he would come to West Virginia and continue his partisan attacks," Manchin said in a statement.
"Last week, I worked in a bipartisan way with Senator Collins to end the shutdown, and last night President Trump called for unity and bipartisanship. The vice president’s comments are exactly why Washington sucks. I’m disappointed in his comments but will continue to work to make Washington work so West Virginia and our country work."
Notice that in his response Manchin defends Obamacare and attacks the Trump tax cuts, which have demonstrably led to billions of dollars of business investment in the American economy and paycheck bonuses for more than 2.5 million Americans.
This Democrat is a fraud, and he's vulnerable. Donald Trump defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a landslide in West Virginia, claiming 68.7 percent of the vote and winning every single county in the state.
It is far past time for the people of West Virginia to reject Manchin's two-faced faux bipartisanship and send a real conservative to Washington.
