Indiana: Woman Give Uncles 'Thumbs Up' After Setting Fire to Sex-Offender Dad

"I torched him."

A Wayne County woman is charged with murder after police say she burned her father alive.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Nina Holbrook, 30, admitted to detectives, Friday, she “torched” 50 year old Carl Holbrook.

Officers were called to the Holbrook home on Chapel Road in Milton after getting a 911 call about a severely burned victim. When medics arrived at the scene, they found Carl lying on the back porch with burns over his entire body and the majority of his clothing burnt off.

Nina told police she poured gasoline into a small cup and lit a candle. Then she called for her dad to come into her bedroom. When he showed up, she threw the cup at his face and shoved the candle at his chest."

Kyle Carpenter saw Nina right afterwards and asked her if she was alright. He told Fox 59, she showed no remorse.

“She smiled at me and she said 'No sir, I'm fine. Thank you very much,' and gave me a thumbs up."

A woman accused of killing her father by setting him on fire in Indiana just got out of the Llano County Jail in Central Texas last month.

According to the Associated Press, Nina Holbrook, 30, was arrested in Milton, Indiana on arson and murder charges for the death of her father, 49-year-old Carl Holbrook. Holbrook told investigators she threw a flammable liquid into his face and ignited him with a candle on Friday.

Nina Holbrook told investigators she then climbed out her bedroom window and walked through a field and down the road, where she was spotted by her uncle, Harvey Holbrook.

The incident took place at the end of a lane on the south side of Chapel Road, between Clevenger and Hiser Station roads in Washington Township.

According to the affidavit, Harvey Holbrook told authorities when he stopped on the road to ask Nina what happened, she told him, "I torched him" and "I set him on fire."
