Liberals offend me

In the most ridiculous story of today (so far), Tennessee state Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Democrat, was so offended by a pack of satirical mints poking fun at President Obama that he complained and got them removed from a university bookstore. There are soooo many things wrong with this story, where do I even begin?

A university of all places? I thought college campuses were supposed to be havens of intellectual debate and free thought? Apparently not so if your free-ranging thoughts include disparaging Obama in the slightest.

Offended by political satire? The Onion better watch their back lest Rep. Armstrong launch an online thought police campaign to get the website shut down for being ironic and funny.

Why is it that liberals always seem to resort to limiting speech when it comes to debate? The answer to differing opinions is more speech, not less.

As a conservative who attended a pretty liberal university, I never even thought about complaining that the numerous displays of George W. Bush playing cards featuring "54 jokers," or books of "George w. Bushisms" were inappropriate in any way. None of these things offend me nearly as much as Rep. Armstrong and his narrow-minded intolerance of views that don't perfectly align with his own.
