Update: Barry Manilow Reportedly Backing Obama, Not Paul

"He loves his president..."

While less than two weeks ago The Blaze reported that Grammy award-winning musician Barry Manilow appeared to be endorsing GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, one of his spokesmen has now confirmed in a letter to The Washington Post that President Obama is in fact Manilow's man.

The Post reports that Manilow, "loves his president" and intends to vote for him in 2012.  Manilow also contributed $28,500 to the Obama Victory Fund.

This has left some confused, as Manilow, who contributed to Paul's last presidential campaign, told the Daily Caller that he agreed with “just about everything” Paul says.

“I like him [Paul]. I like what he says, I do. I like what he says. I think he’s solid. I agree with just about everything he says. What can I tell you?”

To refresh, below is the recent clip in which Manilow sings Paul's praises:

Much of what Paul says and believes, however, is incongruous with much of what Obama says and believes. Leaving one wondering what criteria the famed crooner based his Presidential decision on.

The Post reports:

“Although I agree with some of what Ron Paul says, I am not actually endorsing him in the 2012 presidential race, nor have I ever told anyone that I was.” Seems that while Manilow made an eye-catching $2,300 contribution to the Texas congressman’s 2008 campaign, he also — like many showbiz colleagues — sprinkled cash equally on Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton during the primary, plus $28,500 to the Obama Victory Fund. And he plans to vote for Obama next year. “He loves his president,” a rep said.
