Mitt Romney wasn't in any position to enact policy regarding the auto industry in 2008, yet he's suddenly taking credit for it not going under during the economic crisis.
"I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet," Romney said while campaigning in Ohio Monday. "So, I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back."
Mmm, yeah, it doesn't really work that way. Having "pushed an idea" in a couple newspaper op-eds doesn't earn you any gold stars.
