Polar Bear Uses Rock to Shatter Aquarium Wall -- While Zoo Visitors Watch
June 10, 2012
Visitors to a zoo in the Netherlands got a jolt recently when the polar bear they were viewing used a rock to shatter one of the glass panes to its enclosure.
Video of the incident, said to have taken place Wednesday, shows two visitors talking in front of the aquarium and watching "Vicks" as he swims past. The arctic animal disappears from the frame until suddenly, what looks like a large rock coming from his direction smashes against the glass, causing it to fracture.
Sky News reported Vicks is well known for playing with rocks and zoo staff believe it was an accident rather than him trying to make an escape.
The polar bear was relocated to a new pen so the glass could be fixed.
