Pelosi's politicking at its worst

The GOP isn't pursuing justice for the hundreds of Mexicans who've died or the American border agents who have been killed at the hands of cartel members armed with guns our ATF let walk across the border. Republicans aren't even trying to fight back against an administration policy that would threaten gun owners' Second Amendment rights. No, no. According to Nancy Pelosi, the ongoing investigations into the Obama Justice Department's Fast and Furious operation are nothing more than distractions:

The California Democrat told reporters Thursday it was "no coincidence" that Mr. Holder — who House Republicans are pushing to hold in contempt over his refusal to turn over documents in the "Fast and Furious" gunrunning investigation — is also the official in charge of preventing voter suppression and enforcing civil rights laws.

Mrs. Pelosi called the GOP move a "shameful display of abuse of power."

"Contempt of Congress? To frivolously use that really important vehicle to undermine the person who's assigned to stop the voter suppression in our country, I'm telling you, this is connected. It is no accident," she said.

Mrs. Pelosi said "the very same people who are holding him in contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress the vote."

She added that Republicans are closely allied with well-financed conservative special interest groups intent on "poisoning the debate."
